‘Proud Colours’ in Montreal’s Village

19 February 2021
A display of pride flags in Montreal’s gay district.

This winter, Daily has had the chance to work together with Village Montreal to imagine Proud Colours, a project born from the desire to honour the Village’s role as a refuge.

The project weaves over 35 pride flags together, displayed on more than 150 tubular posters on St. Catherine St, bringing colours and joy in this tough time.

Considering the discriminations the 2SLGBTQIA+ community is facing, this timeline of the sexual and gender diversity flags, fluid and in movement, hopes to pay a tribute to all the nuances in the Village. For those who don’t see themselves represented yet, we consciously left certain tubulars blank to inspire the emergence of new colours.

A big thank you to Village Montreal’s team for their trust.
